Preserve and Serve

Swapnplay Community Sharing’s Preserve & Serve program has been a success for the past five years. We teach cost-effective approaches like food preservation, to address families’ desires for healthier food in their homes that they can easily prepare.

Preserve & Serve is a community resource dedicated to fostering sustainability and healthier families. Preserve & Serve offers free and reduced cost nutrition and food preservation classes, and also offers a sliding-scale durable goods and kitchen equipment lending library where people can borrow resources to make healthier meals for their families.

We loan a variety of food preservation equipment and durable dishes to North Portland community members for a small donation of $5-30.

Items are available on a first come first serve basis via email reservation. Reservations can be made up to 30 days in advance.

Classes in food preservation are offered monthly for $10 per class during the preservation season (May-October).
